Videos: How a 21-year-old girl stole a two-week-old baby after losing pregnancy

A 21-year-old lady, Mercy Sam, has been arrested by the Dansoman Police for allegedly stealing a two-week-old baby at Sukura in Accra.

According to the 20-year-old mother of the baby, Nana Ama, she left the baby with the suspect so she could take a bath and feed the child.


She said, “when I finished bathing, I went to the woman who is my sister’s neighbour for my child but she told me my husband had come for the baby. I called my husband on phone to confirm, but he denied coming for the baby.”

She said, she immediately reported the matter to the Dansoman Police which led to the arrest of the suspect. The suspect later led the police to where she kept the baby.

Father of the baby, a 31-year-old Bin Collector, Shaibu Fusseini, told adomonline.com that he was surprised when the wife called him that a lady is claiming he had come for their two-week-old baby.

The Dansoman Divisional Police commander, ACP Isaac Kwodwo Asante, told Adom News they are preparing all the suspects, including miss Sam for court.

He advised parents to be very careful about the people they give their children to.

Suspect Sam later told Adom News she was compelled to steal the baby because she lost a pregnancy and did not want her husband to find out.
