A ‘wake keeping’ service was held as part of customs for the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died a year ago.
Traditional priests, gunmen and other royal dancers from all walks of life converged at the Gyaase clan in the Manhyia Palace to mourn overnight.
The performance of the priests would officially commence the two-week funeral rites.
The late Asantehema was buried at the Royal Mausoleum at Breman, near Kumasi some months ago.
