The Gyasihene of Abiriw at Akuapem in the Eastern Region,Nana Aboagye Gyabaa III has successfully launched the Abiriw Ohum Festival, also known as the ‘Eba’ Festival.
Speaking at the launch,Nana Aboagye Gyabaa, who is also the Chairman of the Festival Planning Committee, said the seven-day festival, slated for 3rd to 10th December, 2017, is designed to unite families, individuals and clans who are at loggerheads with each other, to promote peace and unity in the town.
He says the festival will also create the opportunity to screen through traditional records of the town and also plan into the future to improve the standards of living of the people of Abiriw.

Some of the signature activities for the festival include setting a day aside to mourn deceased loved ones, a float and health walk, health screening, a traditional quiz competition and other cultural activities.
The flagship banquet and durbar will be held on the Saturday, where the Chief will sit in state to receive homage from the guests and residents.Image may contain: 2 people, people standing
Nana Gyabaa III said the main focus of the festival would be to highlight the need to educate and develop the potentials of the youth since they hold the key to the future.
“We will mobilise the youth for sustainable economic development. We believe they are the leaders of today. We don’t want to wait till they get to adulthood before we start developing their talents…” he said,Image may contain: 2 people, people sitting
