Veteran actor Fred Amugi has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to be Ga Mantsɛ, the chief of the Ga people.
He was picked to be the ruler of the Ga state but after pondering over what his father once told him, he had to turn down the offer.
The actor who started acting in 1969 said Kingmakers selected him for the title during the early 2000s.
Speaking on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh on Tuesday, the veteran actor said he followed his father’s footsteps who also turned down the offer.
“I just followed the footsteps of my dad. My dad dodged becoming Nii Amugi II because he said ‘your religious and moral social life get messed up when you become a chief’. There are things if you were yourself, you wouldn’t want to do [but] you would be forced to do all those things so the best thing to do is stay aside,” he said.
