In a video going viral on social media are Indian priests smashing coconuts on hundreds of worshippers’ heads at the annual Hindu-Tamil festival.
This two-day event is held at the Sri Mahalakhmi Temple and it attracts crowds from across Southern India.
They are celebrating the life-sustaining properties of water even though there has been a backlash stressing on how dangerous the event is.

But according to the video posted by Daily Mail on Facebook, the local government allowed the event to go ahead since there no severe fatalities recorded.
