Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil says the truth will emerge in the suit against him and 15 other directors of the defunct Capital Bank.
Speaking on the suit for the first time, the preacher told his church Tuesday that it was no evidence nor judgment, stating his readiness to challenge the process.

“I know people have all kinds of questions and so on. I can’t explain anything to you because I’m in court. We will allow the process to continue and hopefully, the full truth will be known. There is space for people’s opinion but when you go to court you are not just dealing with people’s opinions, you deal with facts,” he said.
Mensa Otabil and his ICGC are among 15 shareholders and directors of defunct Capital Bank sued over the collapse of the bank in 2017.
The Plaintiffs, Messrs Vish Ashiagbor and Eric Nana Nipah from PricewaterhouseCoopers say the bank’s collapse was a “direct result’ of defendants’” “‘misgovernance” and “willful” breaches of banking regulations.

That was despite “express opposition” from the bank’s senior management. The statement of claim said the money given out in 2015 has not been paid after three years.
The writ faulted the pastor for guaranteeing the disbursement, explaining he was “conscious at all material times” that it was in breach of banking regulations.
But the popular pastor believes the proceeding is going to be interesting.

“It’s going to be interesting. The only thing I want to say briefly is that when someone sues you, it is not an evidence, neither is it a judgement, it is just somebody’s opinion and there will be defence and other things so follow closely how things will proceed and how they’ll end,” he indicated.
