Video: Kwame Sefa Kayi speaks after VGMA scuffle; says the two musicians should be punished

The master of ceremony at last Saturday’s infamous Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Kwami Sefa Kayi, has described the brawl that ensued between musicians, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, and Charles Nii Armah, known to many as Shatta Wale, as a big disgrace to the nation.

Mr Sefa Kayi who was at the centre of the day’s show as moderator said he was personally scared to the marrow when violence broke out.

“I came with my wife to enjoy the show. Young girls and boys were present, Ministers of state there, British High Commissioner in attendance and you come up together with Berla Mundi as MCs for the show which was going on well and something happens and guns are pulled, why won’t I be scared. You for look sharp. It could have been anything negative” he told Captain Smart on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday.

The camps of the two dancehall musicians clashed on stage whenStonebwoy was announced as the winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category.

In the midst of the tension, Stonebwoy pulled out a gun, an action he has explained in a press statement as self-defence.

But the broadcaster said he hoped the two musicians are punished for failing to be good role models to their followers.

According to him, anything could have happened, considering how tensed the environment was and the display of a gun by one of the factions in the ensuing confusion at the Fantasy Dome.

“I believe all these won’t have happened if Shatta had not gotten up with his goons to congratulate stone. For me, I think if it would be possible, Charter House should punish them because they haven’t been good role models to their supporters. Maybe they could be bonded to be of good behaviour or something else. I’m very happy they have been invited by the police,” he said.
