VIDEO: Highlights of MTN FA Cup final: Kotoko 3-1 Hearts

Striker Sadick Adams scored a classic hat-trick as Asante Kotoko thrashed their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak 3-1 in the 2017 MTN FA Cup final.

The Porcupine Warriors have claimed their ninth FA cup title thanks to the three goals, all coming in the first half, by Sadick Adams.

Adams had been widely criticised by his own fans for his profligacy but on Sunday at the Tamale Stadium and against no other side than Hearts of Oak, he was very clinical.

In a one-sided first half, Kotoko scored three goals courtesy of Sadick Adams. The striker, who was the reported to have limped off in the final training, appeared very fit and opened the scoring in the first minute.

Diminutive winger Kwame Boahen pounced on a loose ball, sent a delightful pass to Adams and he calmly slotted past hapless Ben Mensah.

The second goal arrived on 30 minutes when Richard Akroofi brought down Obed Owusu. Adams converted the penalty with such aplomb.

And with seconds to end the half, Adams delivered the third goal. He went round Hearts goalkeeper Ben Mensah and tap into an empty net.

Winful Cobbinah’s powerful low shot, saved by Felix Annan, was the only positive for Hearts in an unforgettable 45 minutes.

Hearts came into the second half determined to stage a comeback but they could only find a consolation goal scored by skipper Thomas Abbey.

By virtue of winning the Cup, Kotoko will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup.

However, Hearts of Oak’s trophyless run continues. They have failed to win any major trophy since 2009.
