Video: Egyptian nationals forced to sweep entire Fosu lorry station for littering

An Egyptian national, Mohammed Fatari and his wife, Fatima Nah, were on Monday forced to sweep the entire Assin Fosu Lorry Park as punishment for littering.

The couple, who were travelling in a taxi, bought maize at the Assin Fosu lorry station and threw the remaining garbage onto the Assin Fosu railway bridge where clean-up exercise was ongoing at the time.

The Assin Fosu Municipal Environmental Officer, Emmanuel Agyare, together with some concerned citizens who were at the scene, chased the vehicle in which the Egyptian was in, arrested and sent the occupants to the police station.

The Assin North Assembly resolved to engage the couple in a community service as punishment to serve as a deterrent to others who litter the street.

They were ordered to sweep the entire Assin Fosu Lorry Park of which they complied.

After the ordeal, Fatima Nah, the wife, cautioned Ghanaians against littering, considering the ordeal they’ve gone through.

The Assin Fosu Municipal Chief Executive, Nicholas Fiifi Baako, urged Ghanaians to learn from the ordeal the couple went through.
