Former president Jerry John Rawlings did not get it easy winning the heart of the woman of his dreams, Nana Konadu.
According to him, he had to pursue his love interest for five years before accomplishing the mission of winning her heart.
In a recent interview, former First Lady of Ghana Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings had also revealed that she was not immediately attracted to Mr Rawlings when they first met at the Achimota School.
According to Nana Konadu, it took a while for them to develop the love and close bond they have now shared for over 40 years.
The former president has confirmed this. He revealed that it wasn’t easy winning the heart of the former First Lady.
Mr Rawlings, who was a guest on Yvonne Okoro’s ‘Cooking With’ show, said he chased her “[for] five years. After I had left the school and come back…one Saturday, with a gang of friends we went to the house and I sent for her. I didn’t think she will come and she did and I saw she had mellowed. She used to be a little hostile towards me.”
“I had been showing interest in her line up of friend just so I could walk alongside them, I’m telling you. Mabrɛ ooo (I am tired),” he added.
They got married in 1977 and they have been blessed with five children – Zanetor, Kimathi, Amina, Yaa Asantewaa and Ezenator.
