The Accra Regional Police on Wednesday morning detained 55 pedestrians who abandoned the newly constructed Adentan footbridge to cross the road.
The operation of the police followed reports by Joy News and Adom News which revealed the continuous crossing of the highway by pedestrians despite the construction of footbridges along that stretch following several past deaths and knockdowns.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News’ Roland Walker during the exercise, Chief Supt. Kwesi Ofori, Operations Commander of the Accra region warned pedestrians to desist from using the highway and pledged their support to make the campaign a success.
“Looking at your campaign and what the Police intend doing, we are going to educate the arrested persons and caution them about such acts,” he assured.
