The Assemblyman for the area describing the current state of the bridge on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Thursday said the contractor has used a 40-footer container as a culvert, making it difficult for vehicles to cross.

The situation which has been there for a year, he stated, is also affecting socio-economic activities.

He said the reconstruction of the bridge which was awarded on contract by the previous administration of the District Assembly was abandoned by the contractor after 40% of work was done.

The contract has been awarded to another contractor who replaced the culvert with a 40-footer container.

Reacting to the Assemblyman’s concerns, however, the contract, John Nana Boateng said the container used as culvert was just a temporal measure.

He explained that due to flooding in the area, they put the container under the bridge to enable vehicles and residents cross.

Nana Boateng said his company will move to the site and construct a proper bridge when the water recedes.
