Vice President Opoku-Agyemang breaks silence amid health concerns

-

Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has spoken for the first time since the Presidency announced her recent health condition and plans for further medical treatment abroad.

She also took the opportunity to express her gratitude for the well wishes she has received since news of her illness broke.

This was contained in a heartfelt Eid Mubarak message to Ghana’s Muslim community on the celebration acknowledging their dedication, values, and contributions to the nation.

Her message read, “Eid Mubarak to our Muslim community! On this blessed occasion, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. Your dedication, values, and contributions enrich our nation and the world. May this celebration bring you joy, peace, and renewed strength. Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend.”

Her statement comes in the wake of an official announcement by the Presidency on March 30, 2025, which revealed that she had fallen ill after work on Friday, March 28.

She was initially treated at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday before doctors recommended further medical care abroad.

While specific details of her condition remain undisclosed, the decision to seek treatment overseas underscores the seriousness of her health situation.

The Vice President’s message, however, reassures the public of her appreciation and resilience, as Ghanaians continue to pray for her speedy recovery.
