Per a press conference organised by Charterhouse and Musicians Union of Ghana on Thursday, ‘Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Popular Song of the Year’ categories of the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have been discarded.
Earlier reports suggested that winners of the categories would be mentioned within the week but it seems the Board has made a u-turn on the decision.
According to Mrs Theresa Ayoade, the Chief Executive Officer of CharterHouse, the organisation deems it unfit to announce winners of the categories to prevent stirring up ruckus among fans of both acts.

“We cannot announce them because it’ been nullified. But it’s between the two acts and we don’t want to give them the joy to hold their fans against each other. And that’s why we have kept the details, it doesn’t exist for this year’s scheme,” she explained.
Shatta Wale followed Stonebwoy minutes after the latter was mentioned as the ‘Dancehall Reggae Artiste of the Year’ at the VGMAs with his fans walking by his side as they made their way to the podium.

Things didn’t go well as both camps clashed with Stonebwoy pulling a gun. The Ghana Police Service later arrested Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale and granted them a GH¢ 50,000.00 bail amidst investigations.
The court case between the two acts has been adjourned to June 20, 2019.
