Christopher Galenkui, the Communications Officer for the Adaklu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the vetting committee for District Chief Executive (DCE) aspirants in the Volta region to recommend a grassroots candidate who understands the people’s needs.
“Someone who has the interest and development of Adaklu at heart should be recommended for nomination by the President,” he stated.
He emphasized that such a person should also be ready to collaborate with traditional authorities and other stakeholders for the development of the district.
Mr. Galenkui, who is also the Assemblyman for the Adaklu Wumenu electoral area, made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of the vetting of the aspirants in Ho.
Eight individuals have filed to contest the DCE position and were being vetted by the Vetting Committee.
He continued, “At this crucial time, when the district needs to be elevated to another level, we are looking forward to a selfless, transparent, and honest person to lead the district.”
Mr. Galenkui was hopeful that the incoming DCE would not discriminate but would help to share development projects evenly across the district.
He also stressed that the person should work to improve the collection of the district’s internally generated funds and protect them from leakage.
The Communications Officer urged the people of the district to trust the committee and the President to do a good job on their behalf.
