The Minority in Parliament has formally requested the removal of Ho West MP, Emmanuel Bedzrah, as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee probing the chaos that erupted on January 30, 2025, during ministerial nomination vetting.
This follows Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s accusations of bias and lack of impartiality against Mr. Bedzrah, due to which the caucus has vowed not to participate in the hearing.
In a memorandum, the Effutu MP stated that it is prudent to await Speaker Bagbin’s response before participating in the committee’s work.
According to him, the move must not be considered a reluctance to engage with the committee but rather a necessary measure to ensure fairness and credibility in the proceedings.
The Minority is optimistic that the Speaker will address their concerns to uphold the integrity of the committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bedzrah has strongly refuted the claims of bias, describing them as unfounded.
Amidst the call for Mr. Bedzrah’s removal, Mr. Afenyo-Markin and his caucus members are expected to appear before the committee today, Monday, February 10.
