Vehicle, structures destroyed after fire guts fuel station at Teshie

-

A fire outbreak at an illegal ‘Gao Gao’ fuel station in Teshie has destroyed a vehicle and several nearby commercial structures.

The incident occurred on Thursday while a vehicle was offloading gallons of fuel at the station.

Eyewitnesses said the station owners struggled to contain the fire as they were unable to operate fire extinguishers, prompting a call to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the fuel station, an adjacent car, and several small businesses.

Firefighters from multiple units were deployed to the scene, including four fire tenders from the Trade Fair area in Accra, two from the GNFS national headquarters, and one from the Ghana Armed Forces.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while residents have called for stricter enforcement against illegal fuel stations in the area.
