Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson has urged the Sports Ministry to engage entertainment players to boost patronage in the sector.
“Maybe some of us have to come in to promote the game. It will be a good thing if we [celebrities] are invited to come to the stadium and support them [the players].”
The award-winning actress, speaking on Asempa FM’s ladies time show with Mavis Amanor (Fire Lady) bemoaned the lack of attention to women football in the country.
The actress cited how football federations abroad will invite musicians to sing prior to the game just to make it very attractive but it is clearly the opposite in Ghana.

“I don’t know if the game is not interesting in Ghana because in some places, they would invite musicians to sing the national anthem [at stadiums]. Some people would like to go and see starts like Beyoncé sing or something but here we don’t put money into the sport.” She said.
