Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has described the decision by the United States of America to splash a couple of visa sanctions on Ghanaian immigrants as harsh.
Mr Allotey Jacobs told Adom TV’s morning show “Badwam” Tuesday host, Omanhene Kwabena Asante that the USA per the sanctions is only trying to bully Ghana.

“Our ministry of foreign affairs is not helping us as a nation because this is very harsh. Americans are using their might to bully us but they have forgotten that they have some treaties with us,” he noted.
The US has explained that the sanctions relate to the lack of cooperation by the Ghanaian government in accepting some illegal Ghanaian immigrants who are due for deportation from the USA.

The Ghana government has since dismissed the claims by the USA, insisting that they have cooperated well with the Northern American country.
Speaking in support of government’s action so far, the former NDC chairman said Ghanaians were discerning enough and would fight for their rights and would not allow the US to suppress them.
