A security analyst, Prosper Nii Nortey Addo, has given the warning that Ghana could be a terror target if it accepts a deal to increase United States Military activity in the country.
According to him, Islamist groups see any country which deals with the US as their enemy and this, in his opinion, could spell doom for the country if the deal is not well scrutinized.

Government has come under intense pressure after Defense Corporation Agreement between Ghana and the US leaked in the media.
The deal, according to reports will permit the U.S. military to use Ghana as a base for staging and deploying forces.
The Cabinet-approved deal has been tabled for consideration in Parliament, a move the government has touted as an evidence of its transparency.

But Nii Nortey Addo on Adom FM’s morning show Wednesday expressed worry at the clandestine nature of the deal.
He indicated that if we [Ghanaians] accept such terms like unrestricted access to some security installations, “we undermine our status as a sovereign state”.

Nii Nortey Addo feared Ghana could surrender her security to the US government if care is not taken.
He urged Parliament to take a critical look at the deal and review that clause in the agreement when the it is brought to the House.
