The newly inducted Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mawutor, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Prof. Mawutor also used the occasion to formally introduce himself to Otumfuo and seek his blessings as he begins his tenure as vice-chancellor.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the long-standing relationship between UPSA and the Golden Stool while discussing innovative ways to position the university as a centre of academic excellence in Africa.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is an alumnus of UPSA, congratulated Prof. Mawutor on his appointment and recent induction into office, encouraging him to continue the university’s transformative agenda.

“As a product of UPSA, I know you are more than capable of handling your new role,” Otumfuo stated. “I also believe that working under past Vice-Chancellors has adequately prepared you for the task ahead, and I am confident you will excel.”

He urged the new vice-chancellor to remain focused, serve with diligence, and work towards enhancing the university’s reputation.

“As an alumnus, I am proud of the transformation at UPSA. It is a testament to the exceptional leadership the university has witnessed over the years,” the Asantehene added.

Prof. Mawutor expressed his gratitude to Otumfuo for his support and pledged to work tirelessly to enhance the university’s reputation as a leading institution of higher learning in Ghana and beyond.

He also expressed commitment to upholding UPSA’s vision of becoming a world-class education provider in both academic and professional disciplines that is nationally entrenched, regionally recognised, and globally relevant.
