Unseen hands manipulating petition against EC boss – Adongo

-

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo believes there are unseen hands manipulating the petition to have the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei removed from office.
He wondered why the petitioners are failing to show their faces if that is not the case and are only hiding behind a lawyer to have the EC Commissioner removed from office, indicating that it is a calculated attempt by some elements within the current government to yank her off.
“Why are the petitioners refusing to show their identities? I am sure there are some unseen hands in the entire petition issue. If they claim to have a case, they must show their faces”, he advised.
According to him, they cannot be categorized under whistle blowers but they are petitioners whose identities must be shielded from the defendant who has been accused of wrongdoing.
A group calling itself the Concerned Staff of EC has petitioned the Chief Justice and the President to begin impeachment processes against Madam Osei alleging she single handedly renegotiated a contract of a tune of $21,999,592 without laid down procedures.
However, lawyers of the EC chairperson are yet to respond to the allegations filed challenging Lawyer Maxwell Opoku Agyemang to provide details of the so-called petitioners said to be staff of with the Commission.
“My client wants to know names of her accusers to enable us file our response to their allegations”, lawyer for the defendant therefore threatened to sue Lawyer Maxwell Opoku Agyemang for defamation by orders of his client, Madam Charlotte Osei.
