The President of the Loyal Ladies of the NPP, Miss Perpetual Lomokie Akwanda, has called on all civil society organizations to target their resources towards the improvement of the quality of life for the less privileged in our communities.
Speaking at a socialization event for underprivileged and developmentally challenged kids at the Twin City Special School in Takoradi, Miss Akwanda bemoaned the lackadaisical attitude towards the welfare of children in Ghana by previous political administrations.
Miss Akwanda reiterated the NPP government’s commitment, under the able leadership of President Nana Akufo Addo, to ensure that no child is left behind in the march towards development and educational achievement.
Miss Akwanda said NPP Loyal Ladies will continue to do its part to bring to the public’s attention the plight of the disadvantaged in the society with special emphasis on the welfare of children.
The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Hon. Gifty Kusi, who was the special guest of honor, lauded the NPP Loyal Ladies for their advocacy towards social and political justice.
Miss Kusi said the NPP government is privileged to partner with the Loyal Ladies in bringing about a change in attitude towards care for the physically and mentally challenged children in Ghana.
Activities including various games, photo sections, and free lunch and mentoring sessions were offered to the kids present.
Some parents who had hitherto barely had any contact with some of the disabled and deprived children, due to the stigma attached to disability in some parts of Ghana, showed up in tears and thanked the Loyal Ladies for making their kids feel like they are also part of society.
Present to grace the event included Hon. Hon. Yaw Amoabeng Acheampong, Western Regional Youth Organizer, and his Deputy Paa Kwesi Moses, as well as the Head teacher Cresential Bilson.
