The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has reiterated a firm warning to residents and business operators in Accra to keep the newly inaugurated Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange free from unauthorized structures such as kiosks, wooden shops, and mechanic workshops.
Speaking at the inauguration of Phase II of the interchange on Friday, November 29, the Minister stressed the importance of preserving the infrastructure’s aesthetics and functionality, emphasizing that it remains a top priority for city authorities.
This warning aligns with the Minister’s earlier stance on similar issues at the Flower Pot Interchange, where he condemned the encroachment of informal businesses.
Despite prior warnings, he highlighted an incident where a coconut seller and a banana seller set up shop under the flyover shortly after its opening, defying directives.
Titus Glover appealed to residents to respect the government’s efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure and maintain its appeal.
“Last week during the commissioning of the Flower Pot Interchange, I made it clear: no kiosks, no mechanics around the shoulders of the interchange. Yet, just after my warning, a coconut seller and a banana seller tested my resolve. Let us preserve the beauty and ambience of this place. No unauthorized structures here,” he cautioned.
