Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning hat-trick in a 3-1 victory for Real Madrid over Manchester City on Wednesday which handed Pep Guardiola’s side an early exit from the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.
The French star opened the scoring after four minutes with a brilliant lob after a pinpoint route one ball from defender Marco Asensio.
Mbappe grabbed a second later in the first half with a clinical effort, showcasing sensational footwork in the box before smashing the ball past Ederson from close range.
He added a third in the second half, wrapping up his second hat-trick of the season with a low, bending effort to put Madrid in cruise control and all but booking their spot in the last 16.
Man City scored a consolation through Nico Gonzalez – his first goal for the club – who tapped into an empty net from close range after Omar Marmoush crashed a free-kick off the crossbar.
