The collaboration began in 2018, when the UCC’s Department of Forensic Sciences and the Ghana Police Service signed an agreement to train Police personnel in various specialized areas including Crime Scene Investigation, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, and Financial Fraud Investigation.
Under her leadership as the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the time, COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah championed initiatives such as the establishment of a Digital Forensic Laboratory.
This facility, slated to begin operations by the end of 2019, aimed to enhance the police’s capabilities in handling digital evidence crucial for prosecuting traditional crimes.
Her efforts were pivotal in addressing the Ghana Police Service’s previous lack of a digital forensic laboratory, which had hindered their ability to effectively manage digital evidence in criminal investigations.
Working closely with UCC, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah also instituted two award schemes at the Department of Forensic Sciences to recognize outstanding students and encourage excellence in forensic disciplines.
In recognition of her dedication and contributions to advancing education in forensic sciences, the Department of Forensic Sciences praised her exceptional leadership and pioneering role in fostering the partnership between the Ghana Police Service and UCC.
Her commitment to academic excellence and professional development has significantly benefited both institutions, marking her as a distinguished leader in her field.
