Two women have narrowly escaped death after a tree fell on them at Nkyeraa in the Bono region following a heavy downpour on Saturday.
The women have been identified as 65-year-old Maame Yaa Awua and Georgina Opoku aged 67.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 4 pm during a Yam Festival celebration at the Nkyeraa Methodist School Park.
When the rain started, they were part of some residents, including the Dormaahene Dr Agyeman Badu who decided to run to safety.
However, the rain, accompanied by strong winds, brought down the tree, crashing the elderly women.
They were rushed to the Nkyeraa Hospital for treatment.
