Two jailed 8 years for exhuming 10-year-old boy’s body for rituals at Awutu Adawukwa

The Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court, presided over by Her Worship Linda Amissah, has sentenced two suspects to eight years in prison for exhuming the body of a 10-year-old boy at the Awutu Adawukwa cemetery for ritual purposes.

On January 15, two brothers, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, were arrested for exhuming the body of James Ajoyemeh at the cemetery in the Central Region.

The suspects were apprehended at Ashalaja by some Okada riders while transporting the body to Amasaman around 1:00 a.m. to set up a shrine.

In court, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh admitted to exhuming the body for ritual purposes.

Speaking to Adom News, the Assemblyman for the Awutu Adawukwa Electoral Area, Emmanuel Osei, confirmed that each suspect received a four-year jail term.

He added that the deceased’s body has been returned to the family for reburial.
