TUSAAG threatens nationwide strike by end of September over unmet demands

-

The Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike by the end of September 2024 if their demands are not fulfilled.

In a statement issued on September 8, 2024, TUSAAG expressed their frustration over the government’s failure to honour its collective bargaining agreement, despite multiple assurances.

The Association accused the government of violating their rights by refusing to implement revised allowances for senior members of public Universities, which were directed by the Ministry of Finance in May 2024.

They also highlighted that an addendum to the collective bargaining agreement, signed in July 2024, has yet to be enforced.

TUSAAG further alleged discrimination in the payment of common allowances owed to unions representing similar categories of workers at public universities.

The Association is demanding the immediate payment of the agreed-upon rates for vehicle maintenance, off-campus, fuel, utility, and sanitation/security allowances.

TUSAAG has resolved to initiate a nationwide strike if these payments are not reflected in the September 2024 salary validation.
