TTAG fights decision by Education Ministry to post members for National Service

Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has expressed its displeasure at the Ministry of Education over the postings of its members for National Service.

It will be the first time in Ghana’s history that teachers will be posted for National Service.

The immediate past secretary of the association, Ekwow Painstil Gyan, on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Friday, said he sees the ministry’s action as a deliberate ploy to deny them jobs.

“Over 1,400 to 1,600 teacher trainees are sad at the way the ministry is handling things; this is a deliberate means of denying us employment,” he lamented.

The group says they will resist any attempt by the government to make them do their national service instead of employing them as teachers right away.

The emphasised that the government wants to go against the norm where newly trained teachers were posted as professionals to their various stations to start teaching immediately after school.
