An Accra Circuit Court has remanded into Police custody one Atoquaye Quaye, a resident of Chorkor and a bus conductor for allegedly defiling a 13 year old girl.
Appearing before the presiding Judge Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, a plea of not guilty was entered for the accused person because he was in doubt of the age of the victim even though he had earlier pleaded guilty to the offense and asked that he be forgiven.
The Judge explained that, once the accused was unsure of the age of the victim, the case should be tried until it is proven thirteen or otherwise before the court can decide on a sentence.
The accused in a query to find out how old he thought the victim is, said either 17 or 18.
Prosecuting, the court was informed that, the incident occurred on July 6 this year at Chokor where both of them reside.
According to prosecution, the accused, Atoquaye Quaye on the day of the incident at about 10 am invited the victim into his room.
When she entered, he pulled a knife and with a threat instructed her to undress.
The victim who was afraid obliged and the accused person had sex with her.
The court has adjourned the case to 23rd of August 2017.
