The Deputy Minister-designate for Energy, Mr William Owuraku Aidoo, appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday and pledged to support the substantive minister to deliver on the government’s manifesto.
He was asked a question about what support he brought to ensure the expansion of electrification in the country to which he expressed the government’s policy on electrification in the 2017 budget and said he would assist the minister to achieve that agenda.
Also the MP for Afigya Kwabre South in Ashanti, Mr Aidoo gave the assurance that he would support to ensure the effective take off of the Second Millennium Challenge Compact with the US government to help improve upon energy delivery in the country.
When asked about what he made of the current state of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), the nominee submitted that “TOR is still reeling and I believe steps are in place to revive the facility but I am not privy to the details”.
