Today in History, exactly 19 years ago, Accra Hearts of Oak were ranked 8th best club in the World in the CNN/World Soccer weekly chart.

On February 12, 2001 Hearts of Oak reached its peak, when CNN/World Soccer rated them the 8th best club in the world in its weekly chart, rubbing shoulders with Football giants such as Real Madrid.
Hearts Achieved this feat a day after the club had beaten Zamalek of Egypt by 2-0 to win the only Super Cup by a Ghanaian side at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
It was the fourth trophy in recent months for Hearts of oak after winning the Ghana Premier league, FA Cup and the African Champions League in December.
Hearts played host to Zamalek in Kumasi because the club was banned for a year from playing any continental club games at the Accra Sports Stadium.
