Greater Accra Regional Minister and former Tema East MP, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, has warmly congratulated Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, on her recent election as Commonwealth Secretary-General.
Titus Glover praised Botchwey’s dedication and expertise.
“I would like to congratulate the new international diplomat in town, Her Excellency Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, for making Ghana and the Ga State proud. I first met her in Parliament in 2013 when she served as the Chairman for Trade, Industry, and Culture.
“Although she doesn’t speak much, she is very diligent in her work. Over the years, she has held various government positions and has distinguished herself as a diplomat, so I am not surprised by her success.
“She is the second international diplomat after Kofi Annan, and I am proud to support her in representing Ghana and Africa on the global stage. I am confident that she will continue to make Ghana proud,” he said on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.
Elected on October 25, Botchwey’s appointment followed a rigorous selection process, placing her among a select group of African leaders to hold the esteemed position.
With over two decades of diplomatic experience, including her recent impactful role as Ghana’s Foreign Minister, she is poised to bring her progressive vision to the Commonwealth, focusing on unity, equitable development, and enhanced cooperation.
