The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has called for peace amid ongoing unrest in the Teshie township.
During a scheduled tour of traditional councils in Accra on Monday, the Minister’s visit to the Teshie Traditional Council took an unexpected turn.
Upon arrival, he was informed about disturbances that had prevented the Council members from receiving him and the gifts he had brought.
In a media interview, Titus-Glover assured the public that he would take action once he received security briefings and urged the residents to remain calm and act peacefully.
“When we arrived, I was informed that there had been shooting incidents in town. For safety reasons, we decided to relocate to the assembly for the presentations, as people were afraid to come out and receive the items.
“I am here to get a full briefing from the regional commander about the situation. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or loss of life so far.
“My prayer is that nothing of the sort occurs. I have urged the traditional council and other groups to promote unity. We will continue to engage with them and hope they will put an end to these disturbances, which have hindered Teshie’s development.
“On behalf of the President and Vice President, I appeal to my people in Teshie to give peace a chance,” the Minister said.
