Tit-for-tat: Take blame for Menzgold just like you blamed us DKM – NDC

-

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is reaping the bad seeds it sowed when it charged customers of DKM to blame the erstwhile Mahama government for their woes.

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia said it is payback time and will bring evidence to prove that the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah also known as NAM 1 had the backing of government.

Government has come under a barrage of attacks after it emerged that, thousands of customers of the gold dealership firm have been swindled.

Many of the customers claimed they invested in the company after they saw NAM 1 in photos with people in the corridors of power – an allegation government has vehemently denied.

It has also through s statement signed by Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated unequivocally that, government  will not use the tax payer’s money to settle the aggrieved customers of embattled gold trading firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited.

It, therefore, advised customers whose contractual obligations have not been met by Menzgold to seek legal redress to retrieve their funds.

Reacting to the issue on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said government cannot continue to play the passive observers role while customers of Menzgold threaten chaos in search for the monies they have invested.

He stated that, the involvement of some government officials including the Minister of Tourism, Catherine Afeku created deceptive environment for people to invest in the company.

General Mosquito as he is popularly called said allowing Menzgold to operate while warning the public from dealing with the firm was counter-productive.

“Nana Akufo-Addo, Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen and Tourism Minister, Catharine Afeku cannot claim not to know officials of Menzgold. They wined and dined with them” he stressed.

The NDC scribe described government’s handling of the Menzgold saga as shambolic and urged them to take the bull by the horn and bring some respite to the customers.

“NDC during the DKM saga was blamed for neglecting customers now NPP must take responsibility for their utterances” General Mosquito said.
