Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Yaw Buaben Asamoah, says the meeting with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discuss political vigilantism was in the right direction.
According to Mr Asamoah, the electorate will expose any party that tries to incite violence in any election in Ghana.
“All those who try anything violent in any election in Ghana will amount to nothing. The thumps of the electorate will expose you. We don’t need violence to share our point of view, ” he said.

He noted that they agreed on three main things as political parties to help ensure that elections in Ghana are violent-free.
“No party member of any political party should incite any group of people to cause chaos at elections. Any party that will go contrary to this agreement will be dealt with by the security agencies no matter which party is in power or you belong to.
“We believe that if we do this, it will help our security agencies to work better and function better as they should,” he said on Accra based Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.
He acknowledged the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his contribution in making the meeting a success.

“Peace is very paramount to our president’s governance. We all witnessed what happened in Dagbon which clearly shows he is a peacemaker. He did everything possible for NPP and NDC to meet and talk about this matter when we were reluctant to meet as political parties. He involved National Peace Council (NPC) to help make our meeting possible,” he stated.
The NPC, under the chairmanship of Most Reverend Prof. Emmanuel Asante, scheduled to meet with the two leading political parties — the NPP and NDC — on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 to mediate in the matter of political vigilantism in the country.
The meeting followed a consensus reached by the NPP and NDC to make the NPC the mediator in the matter of political vigilantism that has become a matter of prime national security concern.
