I thought KABA’s death was a hoax – Paul Afoko

-

Suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has stated that he perceived the news of Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong’s (KABA) death as a hoax.
Mr. Afoko disclosed to ascertain the truth, he immediately sent a message to the deceased via WhatsApp, but his message was not delivered.
He explained that he did that because of the rise in fake news on social media, so he had to confirm.
He added that he called a ‘reliable source’ to confirm the news before accepting reports of his death.
“I travelled. I wasn’t here. So I saw it first on social media. In fact, I left my phone in my car. If not, I would have shown you. I immediately sent a whatsapp to him directly. Because I thought that it was a hoax. I didn’t believe it”, the suspended NPP National Chairman said.
Mr. Afoko said that he perceived KABA to be a hostile person, from his first interaction with the deceased Asempa FM presenter, but realized that the host of Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosi sen’ was a professional in the industry.
“The first time he met the deceased was in the Multimedia Group building. In that interview, I said that he was a very hostile man. He did not like me. As soon as I exited, the next person to come in was Nana Akomeah. So I listened to the show in my car. The questions that he asked Nana Akomeah made me realize that he was just doing a balanced job. And since that day the respect I had for him increased”, he narrated.
Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong was reported dead in the early hours of Saturday 18th November 2017 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital; as a result of a rise in sugar level in his body. He left behind a wife and a daughter. KABA recently won the Radio Talk Show Host of the Year award at the 2017 RTP Awards.
