This should have happened from day one – Ato Forson on NDC becoming Majority in Parliament

-

Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has expressed satisfaction with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) becoming the Majority caucus.

As Dr Ato Forson now becomes the Majority leader, he said that is long overdue.

According to him, the side deserved to form the majority from the beginning of the eighth parliament on January 7, 2021.

He stated that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) manoeuvred the elections to become the Majority in the House but the tables has eventually turned.

“The Minority have just moved from Minority to Majority. In fact, the people of Ghana voted for the NDC to become Majority but for certain machinations. This should have happened from day one of this Parliament. Finally, we are here,” he told the press shortly after Speaker Bagbin declared four seats vacant.

Three of the vacant seats belong to the NPP while one is for the NDC, bring the NDC’s seats to 136 and the NPP 135.

Ato Forson expressed confidence that the NDC will now act in the interest of Ghanaians with their new position.

The seats declared vacant are the Agona West constituency in the Central Region, Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, currently an independent MP for the Fomena constituency and Amenfi Central.

Few minutes after the declaration, the NPP MPs who were discontent staged a walk out.
