Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has described Ghana’s upcoming match against Madagascar as a “small final,” stressing its importance in their quest for World Cup qualification.
Ghana will face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium tonight in their Matchday 6 fixture of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with kickoff set for 19:00 GMT.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media, Addo emphasized the need for total commitment from his players.
“We need everyone to be on their toes. We don’t need 98%, we don’t need 99%, we need 100%,” he stated.
“This [game against Madagascar] is like a small final, and if we win this game, then we are really on our way to qualifying. But it’s going to be very tough.”
Addo also acknowledged the strength of the Malagasy side, highlighting their recent performances.
“We observed the Madagascar team, and they have done really well, especially in their last game, so they are in good form. It’s going to be a tough game,” he noted.
The Black Stars enter the match with confidence after a dominant victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 12 points and will be looking to maintain their momentum against Madagascar.
