Things are better now – Finance Minister rejects hardship claims

-

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, says the livelihood of Ghanaians is better as compared to the hardships they were facing under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration.

He further explained why he believes things are going well and what the incumbent government had done within three years to improve the state of affairs in the country:

“We were living in hardship that was why Ghanaians voted for President Nana Akufo-Addo whose victory was unprecedented. So we have to accept that we weren’t living in the best times but by the grace of God things are much better than January 2017,” he said.

The Minister further added that he hasn’t seen such improvement in the Fourth Republic, adding that the country is in a much better place.

“Ever since the incumbent government came to power there has been a lot of improvements. I don’t think electricity prices have ever gone down in this country but we were able to do that, talk of the National Health Insurance Scheme, the number of people who have signed on the scheme and the arrears we have been able to pay and the free senior high school policy,” he told Accra based Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

“Inflation has gone down to 7.6 and 7.8, I’ve never seen this in the Fourth Republic and the banking sector reform has made the banking sector stronger so we really have worked hard for Ghanaians,” he added.

He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to support the government to continue the good work it has already started.
