Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has released a new song titled Betting Tax in reaction to former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam’s claim that the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government never implemented the betting tax.
Following the NDC’s announcement to scrap the tax, the former minister argued that Ghanaians should not celebrate the removal, as the tax was never enforced. According to him, the previous administration only proposed the levy but never implemented it.
However, many betting investors disagreed, insisting that deductions were made from the time the tax was announced until its recent cancellation.
In his song, Shatta Wale calls out the former finance minister and the government, accusing them of dishonesty and selfishness.
The track has since sparked discussions online, with many users weighing in on the controversy surrounding the betting tax.
