Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, says there is an attempt by the National Identification Authority to denationalise some Ghanaians in the ongoing registration exercise in the Volta region.
According to Mr Ankrah, there have been several complaints about the registration exercise that are very alarming.
“People sleep at the centres for seven days only for officials to tell them there is shortage in materials or breakdown of machines,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he added that guarantors, who are supposed to guarantee for people, have not yet received their cards to aid others in their registration.
“If care is not taken most people in the Volta region will not be able to register for voting which is problematic and alarming. The Ghana Card is an evidence that you are a Ghanaian and when there is too much hitches in the process there is cause for concerns,” he added.
