There is nothing wrong with legitimate acquisition of state lands – Muntaka

The Minister-Designate for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has defended the legitimacy of acquiring state lands.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee on Friday, the Asawase MP said there is nothing wrong with such acts if conducted properly.

The nominee disclosed that he had personally acquired government land in Accra through lawful means.

“I know the whole of East Legon was for the state; we have private people living there. People who have worked in government before, and others.

“Airport Residential was all state land, and people acquired it legitimately and are living there. I don’t see anything wrong with it if it’s done legitimately and rightfully,” he explained.

Muntaka’s comments come in the wake of efforts by the Mahama-led government to reclaim illegally acquired state lands.

Currently, President John Mahama has ordered an immediate halt to all activities involving the sale, lease, or processing of transactions related to state and public lands.
