There is a possibility Hearts of Oak can win Premier League title – Frank Nelson

-

Frank Nelson, a former board member of Hearts of Oak, remains optimistic about the club’s chances of winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite their recent struggles.

Hearts of Oak are currently in 5th place with 37 points, having failed to win their last three matches in the second round of the season.

However, Nelson believes the club can still compete for the title, pointing out that the point difference between them and the top teams is not insurmountable.

“Where we are lying is not the best for the club. Picking up only a point out of three games merely implies we are not serious about winning the league. However, based on the point difference, we can still compete,” Nelson told Akoma FM.

He emphasized the importance of supporting head coach Aboubakar Ouattara, urging the club’s management to continue motivating him. “I believe we should provide the coach with encouragement to keep him motivated. He has a lot of incentive in terms of income, but there are other things we call motivation, such as how the supporters surround him, how they support the players, and how he sees the affection they have for the players,” he said.

Nelson reassured fans that there is still hope for the team. “All hope is not lost. I feel that we can still win the league. It is not something we should give up on because a 5-6 point difference is only 2 games, which is achievable. So I believe Hearts of Oak still has the possibility to win, but we need to work hard,” he added.

Hearts of Oak will return to action this afternoon when they face Nations FC in a rescheduled Matchday 21 game at the Tuba Astroturf.
