Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II says the world has lost a true gem of the Ashanti Kingdom, Kofi Atta Annan.
In a tribute delivered by Daasebre Dr Osei Bonsu, the Paramount Chief of Mampong, who represented Otumfuor Osei Tutu II at the final funeral rites of the late UN Boss at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Otumfuor described ‘Busumuru’ Kofi Annan as a man who touched and graced many lives positively.
He recalled giving him the title “Busumuru” which means “Son of the Golden Stool” for the legacy he set in this world before his unfortunate demise.

Part of the tribute read: “The embodiment and the title Busumuru is the name of the holy Golden Sword used to swear Ashanti Kings in power since the 17th Century… it was fitting that he was the first to be granted the title. He was the embodiment of peace. He worked harder to excel to greater heights meeting world leaders through his Geneva based Kofi Annan foundation…”
