The praise singing is not helping us reach a consensus – Pratt to politicians

-

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, says the praise singing and the partisan discussion by some politicians about the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCE’s) elections are not helping the country.

According to him, a lot of political parties have advocated for MMDCE’s to be voted for in their manifestos way before President Nana Akufo-Addo came to power, hence he is not the originator or the mastermind behind the initiative.

He said the attitude of politicians is not helping the nation to reach a consensus and urged them to desist from that.

“The truth is a lot of political parties in their manifestos have advocated for the need for MMDCE’s to be voted for. So the NPP should never say it is the idea of the president for MMDCE’s to be voted for. Those partisan discussions that praise singing is not helping us reach a consensus so let’s stop it, it won’t help us,” he told Accra-based Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Pratt said there was no need for politicians to argue over the referendum. Rather, they should think of what is needed to move the nation forward.

“I am surprised politicians are fighting over this referendum, it won’t deliver the outcome of the consensus we need. We need to think about what we can do to help the MMDCE’s work well to bring development to the country, if we all think like that we will achieve a certain consensus,” he added.
