The job is not over yet – Otto Addo after Ghana’s win over Madagascar

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has warned his team against complacency despite their dominant 3-0 win over Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Monday.

Ghana delivered an impressive performance at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco, securing a vital victory that strengthened their lead in Group I.

Goals from Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, with all three assists provided by Jordan Ayew, sealed the commanding win.

However, Addo remains cautious and has urged his players to stay focused.

“We are in a good position [to qualify for the 2026 World Cup], but this is also dangerous,” Addo said at the post-match press conference.

“Now, I am thinking about how to keep our heads focused [because] the job is really not done. Maybe if Comoros wins, it’s just a three-point gap ahead of Comoros, and it’s still a long way to go. We have to stay focused. If anyone thinks we are through, then he’s making a big mistake.”

With four matches remaining in the qualifiers, Addo emphasized the importance of maintaining concentration and avoiding any sense of overconfidence.

“I have seen a lot of football, a lot of things happening, and we have to stay focused. I am happy, but like I said, the job is really not done,” he reiterated.

Ghana will now shift their focus to their upcoming fixtures against Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 as they continue their push for World Cup qualification.
