Internationally recognised and award-winning Ghanaian choral group, the Harmonious Chorale–Ghana, is set for a debut performance in the USA at the invitation of the Ghanaian Community Presbyterian Church, a mission of the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, Texas.

The Harmonious Chorale which was crowned 2018 Champions of the World Choir Games Category C28 in South Africa and won four Gold awards, will be performing at a charity concert themed, “The Hallelujah Concert” on 28th September at the Irvin Arts Center, Texas.

The choir is expected to spend the remaining days touring and performing in New York and Worcester.

In 2019, the choir made history, finishing as the 2nd runner-up in the first appearance of a West African Choir at the International Festival of Orthodox Liturgical Music in Poland.

The choir also received a special Diploma for promoting orthodox music in Africa.

The Harmonious Chorale participated in the International Festival of Choirs in France in July 2023 with a 45-member delegation and received a Special Jury Award for securing the 2nd place in the Sacred Music category, competing with eight other international choirs.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Choir, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, who is also the President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), this invitation is a testament to the exceptional performance and impactful ministry of the choir in its 17 years of existence.

According to Dr. Donkor, the Harmonious Chorale-Ghana has acquitted itself over the years as a choir of international standard, therefore, he was not surprised about the numerous invitations the choir receives to perform on international platforms.

He commended the Executive Chairman of the choir, The Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, members of the Board, the Executive Director; Mr. James Varrick Armaah, and the entire choir, for their resilience and unwavering commitment to the ministry.

The Harmonious Chorale is directed by the ace composer, James Varrick Armaah of ‘Asem papa bia mati’ fame.

The US trip is slated for September 24 to October 8, 2024, after which the choir will return to Ghana to stage its 17th Anniversary concert, themed “Symphonies and Steps” on 19th October at the Wesley Towers, Methodist Church Headquarters, Accra.
