The Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Achiase Constituency, Samuel Owusu Brako, has stated that the people of Achiase are tired of the current state of underdevelopment and are ready for change.
According to him, if not for the NDC, the constituency would have been abandoned and left underdeveloped.
“Since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over from the NDC, there has been no significant development in Achiase,” he said.
Mr Owusu Brako pointed to documented records and visible projects as proof that the Achiase enclave received its share of development under the NDC.
He claimed that under the NPP government, most good projects have come to a standstill.
“The NPP does not value Achiase as the NDC does,” he asserted.
Speaking on Adom 106.3 FM’s The Big Debate segment during the station’s award-winning morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Owusu Brako said despite the people’s continuous support for the NPP, Achiase is lagging in terms of development.
“After the NDC lost power in 2016 and 2020, major projects in Achiase have stalled because the NPP does not have the region’s interest at heart,” he noted.
He further stressed that all visible development projects in the constituency were initiated during the NDC’s administration. These include CHPS compounds, water projects, and the provision of electricity.
“Under the NDC, Achiase saw significant improvements in infrastructure and basic services, including health and education,” he added.
In his campaign, Mr Owusu Brako promised to prioritise job creation, improve the health system, and focus on better road infrastructure in the constituency.
“The roads in Achiase are in a deplorable state, and I will lobby for better roads to improve accessibility,” he stated.
Reflecting on the achievements of the NDC, he noted that when Achiase became independent in 2012 and received district status, the NDC was responsible for much of the developmental work.
“All the developmental progress in Achiase, from classroom blocks to health facilities, came under the NDC,” he said.
Mr Owusu Brako also mentioned the provision of streetlights to the community, something the people had never experienced before.
“We brought streetlights to Achiase to improve safety and visibility at night,” he pointed out.
Mr Owusu Brako believes that the NDC did enough for Achiase when in power and is now asking the people to vote for him to return to power and do even more for the constituency.
